01The short version
You send a photograph of a plant. We look at it, tell you what is wrong, and then delete the photograph. We do not ask for your name. We do not sell anything about you to anyone, ever.
The rest of this page is the same promise written out in full, so you can check it. If any part of it is unclear, write to hello@agrosvision.com and a person will answer you.
02What we collect
There is no account and no sign-up. We only hold what you actually send us:
- The photograph of the plant. The picture itself, plus whatever the camera wrote into the file — the date and the phone model. If your camera saved GPS coordinates in the file, we strip them out on arrival and never store them.
- An email address — only if you ask a person to look at a case the model was unsure about, or if you write to us. That is the only way we could contact you, and we never see your phone number.
- The crop and the region you pick, if you tell us. Region means a state or a zone, never your exact field.
- Basic technical facts — network type, browser, rough country — so we can keep the service working on 2G and on old phones. This is counted, not tied to you.
We do not collect your name, your farm location, your bank details or your contacts. We do not use advertising trackers or third-party analytics cookies. The site sets no cookie unless you choose to keep a setting, such as your language.
03What we do with it
Three things, and nothing else:
- Run the photograph through the model so you get a diagnosis and a treatment.
- Show that answer in your browser, and email it to you if you asked for a human review.
- Count what happened, without you attached to it: how many photos of cassava came from a region this week, how often the model said it was unsure. This is how outbreak warnings and accuracy reports get made.
If you write to us with a question, we use your message and your address to answer it.
04How long we keep it
- Photographs: deleted within 24 hours of the diagnosis being sent, unless you have chosen to donate the image (see the next section). Deleted means removed from our systems and from our backups within a further 30 days.
- A case sent for human review: the photograph and your email address are kept until the agronomist has answered you, then 90 days so a follow-up question still has context, then deleted.
- Counted statistics: kept indefinitely, because they carry nothing that points back to a person.
- Emails you send us: two years, then deleted.
05Donating a photograph to the model
The model is only as good as the fields it has seen. You can choose to let us keep a photograph for training. That choice is off unless you turn it on, one photograph at a time, and it is never a condition of getting a diagnosis.
If you do turn it on for a photograph:
- We keep the image and the crop and region label. Camera metadata and any contact details are removed first.
- An agronomist checks it to confirm the label. They see the leaf, not you.
- It appears in accuracy reports and in research datasets shared with agricultural researchers, under a licence that forbids re-identification and resale.
You can change your mind. Write to us with the date and rough time you sent it and we will pull it out of the training set.
06Who else sees it
We do not sell, rent or trade your data. Nobody buys space in your diagnosis. The only outside parties involved are the ones needed to deliver the service:
- Our email provider — only for the messages you and we actually exchange.
- Agronomists we work with — for a case the model was unsure about. They see the leaf and the crop, not who you are.
- Our hosting and storage providers — they hold the data on our instructions only, under contract, and cannot use it for anything of their own.
- Co-operatives and extension programmes — only if you enrolled through one, and then only the diagnoses from your own submissions, summarised by ward.
We will hand data to an authority only where a valid legal order requires it. If that ever happens we will tell the affected person unless the law forbids it.
07Your rights, and how to use them
You can ask us to:
- tell you what we hold about you;
- send you a copy of it;
- correct it if it is wrong;
- delete it;
- stop using it for a particular purpose;
- withdraw a consent you gave, such as donating a photograph — which does not undo what was lawful before you withdrew it.
Write to hello@agrosvision.com from the address you wrote to us with, or send us the date and time of the diagnosis. It is free and we answer within 30 days. Because we deliberately hold so little, the answer is usually “we have nothing of yours left” — that is the design working.
If you think we have handled your data badly, you may complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission, or — if you are in the United Kingdom or the European Union — to your national data protection authority. We would rather you told us first so we can fix it.
Our lawful bases: consent for photographs you donate to training; performance of the service you asked for, for the diagnosis itself; and legitimate interest for counted statistics and keeping the service secure.
08Keeping it safe
Traffic between your phone and us is encrypted. Photographs sit in encrypted storage for the short time they exist. Access is limited to the few staff who need it, and it is logged.
If a breach ever puts you at risk we notify the regulator within 72 hours and tell affected people directly, in plain words, including what we are doing about it.
09Children
The service is meant for people aged 18 and over. Younger family members farm too, and a photograph of a leaf tells us nothing about who took it — but we do not knowingly keep data from a child. If you believe a child has sent us something, write to us and we will delete it.
10Changes to this notice
If we change something small, the date at the top changes. If we change something that affects you — a new recipient, a longer retention period, a new purpose — we will say so clearly on this page, and in a notice on the diagnosis tool itself, for at least 30 days before it takes effect. We will not start using old photographs for a new purpose without asking you first.
11Who we are
AgrosVision builds crop and livestock diagnosis trained on locally collected imagery. We are the data controller for everything described on this page.
Data protection contact: hello@agrosvision.com. One address, read by people, for every question — privacy, deletion, partnerships or a diagnosis that looked wrong.
